Sheffield (saberingles.com.ar)

Sheffield
SheffieldSheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in the north of England. The population of the City of Sheffield in 2002 was estimated at 512,242. It has grown, from its industrial roots to encompass a wide economic base and is now the third largest city in England, the fourth largest in Great Britain, and the only one in South Yorkshire.

The city boundaries of Sheffield include a significant area of the countryside which surrounds the main urban region. One third of Sheffield is within the Peak District National Park (no other English city has a national park within its boundary), and Sheffield is generally recognized as England's greenest city, containing 150 woodlands and 50 public parks.

Sheffield is largely unparished, but Bradfield and Ecclesfield have parish councils and Stocksbridge has a town council.

The present boundaries were set in 1974, when the former county borough of Sheffield merged with Stocksbridge urban district and part of Wortley Rural District.

A visitor´s guide to the UK

If you visit the UK, try to see some of the beautiful countryside. You´ll be surprised at the variety .
Visit the Lake District in the north-west of England, take a boat out to the Farne Island in the north-
east, walk along the dramatic Cornish coast in the south-west or climb the mountains of Scotland and
Wales.
As well as the countryside, you should visit big cities like London and Edinburgh.
Lots of people go to the big attractions, like Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussaud´s and the London
Eye.The views from the top of the Eye are fantastic. But there are other places like Stratford-on-Avon
and Bath.
There are trains and buses to most places, so it isn´t difficult to travel around the UK. And you can
usually find a place to stay. Bed and breakfast are popular.
Winters in the UK are cold and the days are short. Summers are warm but it sometimes rains for long
periods. In my opinion, spring is the best time.
But whenever you come, you´ll enjoy yourself!
